My friend and I were in the cities for the weekend and planned to go to our usual sushi spot, but they didn’t have availability—so we picked a random place instead. Honestly, best thing to happen, because this might be our new favorite sushi restaurant! We were seated at the sushi bar, which is perfect for a group of two. The staff was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive from start to finish. The food and drinks were AMAZING. We started with two specialty cocktails and shared the spicy crab salad, then ordered the spicy tuna roll, california roll, and the crazy lobster roll. If you’re like us and not a big fan of raw fish, we highly recommend everything we tried. We will absolutely be back!

We had the best experience here tonight! They have a great happy hour, but really what made the experience the best was our server, Paige! She took such good care of us and went above and beyond several times. Made for a great happy hour!

Vibes are always fantastic at Wakame. The food is good, consistent, and they have a great happy hour. The music they play makes for a fun atmosphere and is a stable sushi place. My favorite roll is the "Wakame Roll" and be sure not to sleep on their Lychee Martinis - YUM!

This is one of our go-to places. The service is absolutely amazing. We have the same server, Lemon, regularly. She is always attentive and knows our orders. The sushi never disappoints. The owner is friendly and accommodating. Love this place.

My daughter loves sushi, so we took her here during happy hours for her birthday, and she had a fantastic time! The food was delicious; fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented. Our server was great and attentive until it got really busy, which led to us being overlooked a bit, especially with water refills. Despite that, we enjoyed our meal and the overall experience. We'll definitely be back for more sushi!

I recently visited a sushi restaurant that left me with mixed feelings. On the positive side, the ambiance of the place was inviting and comfortable, and the non-sushi dishes arrived very quickly. The appetizers and side dishes were delivered almost immediately after we placed our order, which initially gave me the impression that the service would be smooth and efficient. However, my experience with the sushi itself was far less satisfying. We ended up waiting nearly an hour for the sushi to arrive, which felt unusually long, especially since the other dishes came out so fast. By the time the sushi was finally served, the anticipation had built up quite a bit, but unfortunately, the quality did not fully meet my expectations. While the sushi was not terrible, it wasn’t the highlight I was hoping for. The flavor was acceptable and had some good elements, but it lacked the freshness and vibrancy that makes sushi truly memorable. The disappointment was compounded by the fact that sushi was the primary reason we chose this restaurant in the first place. Sitting for that long, watching other dishes come and go quickly, made the slow service for the main attraction even more noticeable. Overall, while the restaurant had some strong points—mainly the fast delivery of other items and a pleasant atmosphere—the core experience of enjoying top-notch sushi was diminished by both the long wait and the lackluster taste. I left feeling that the restaurant has potential, but it needs to improve both the timeliness and the quality of its sushi to stand out in such a competitive dining scene.

Jackson made our experience at Wakame Bistro even better than we expected. From the moment we sat down, he was friendly, attentive, and clearly knew the menu well. He gave great recommendations and made sure everything came out perfectly. The service felt genuine and relaxed, not rushed, which made the whole meal more enjoyable. It’s obvious he takes pride in what he does and wants guests to have a great time. If you get Jackson as your server, you’re in good hands. Great service like that is a big reason we’ll definitely be coming back.

This is a decent sushi place. The quality is decent. It’s not phenomenal, but it’s far from bad. I came here for the 1st time today, and my experience was okay. The overall atmosphere is very crowded and lively. The service was OK. The food arrived quickly; however, the waitress was pretty condescending regarding the pronunciation of the items and the description. It was often said in a tone that we should know rather than simply explain simple questions. I ordered the Naked Girl roll as well as the Temptation roll. The sushi rolls were pretty good. The temptation roll had an excessive amount of mango in it, which made it extremely sweet. I definitely understand why it was popular; it's just not my personal preference. The Naked Girl roll was pretty good, and the miso soup and hamachi kama were phenomenal. I would return due to the service and far better sushi restaurants in the Twin Cities. However, this isn't a bad restaurant; it's just not a personal favorite.
